Cutting-edge facilities for frontier research

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at LMU Munich hosts a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art laboratories dedicated to the multi-scale study of our planet. Our facilities includes observatories, high-precision analytical imaging, advanced geochemical characterisation, unique experimental apparatus, high-resolution sensors and high-performance computation that simulate the extreme conditions of Earth's interior and surface. From nanometer-scale analysis of minerals to simulation of planetary processes, our facility offers cutting-edge tools to undertake frontier research in geosciences.
