Research

My interdisciplinary research focuses on climate change and human adaptation during historical periods, with a particular emphasis on extreme climate. As a member of the STORIES research project (https://www.erc-stories.com/), I am currently investigating flood resilience in Southwest China from the 14th to the 20th century. This research encompasses both the analysis of typical flood cases and the exploration of long-term changes in flood risk and resilience.

Biography

I joined the Human-Environment Relations working group at LMU in 2023 to pursue a PhD. Before this, I completed my bachelor's and master's degrees at Beijing Normal University in China. My educational background is in physical geography, with a primary research focus on reconstructing historical extreme weather and climate events and analyzing their interactions with human societies, particularly in the context of droughts, floods, and cold extremes. I have extensive experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research using historical documents. Additionally, I possess research and practical experience in geographic education.
