About the conference

Following the outstanding success of the inaugural International Climate Resilience Conference (iCARE 2025, www.climateresilience.info), we are pleased to announce the second edition, iCARE 2027, to be held from 31 March to 02 April 2027 at LMU Munich, Germany.

While climate change discourse has long been dominated by narratives of risk, vulnerability, and loss, growing evidence demonstrates the remarkable capacity of human and social systems to adapt, innovate, and thrive under changing environmental conditions. iCARE 2027 aims to shift the focus toward these positive dimensions by highlighting successful resilience-building efforts, transformative strategies, and actionable solutions across scales and sectors. Within a broader resilience and human-nature coupled systems framework, the conference will also encourage dialogue on social-ecological resilience and strengthen synergies among multilateral environmental agreements and sustainable-development agendas.

Hosted in the heart of one of Europe’s leading academic and cultural centers, iCARE 2027 will once again bring together a global community of scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders committed to advancing climate resilience research and practice.

Conference themes and sessions

The conference will feature a diverse set of thematic sessions covering key dimensions of climate resilience, including (but not limited to):

Urban and infrastructure resilience
Multi-hazard resilience
Social and community resilience
Resilience in health and food systems
Advanced methodologies (e.g., AI, big data) for resilience assessment
Historical and long-term perspectives on resilience
Resilience building in rural areas and agricultural systems
Resilience to support decision-making and governance
Case studies and best resilience practices from around the world
Socio-ecosystem resilience and human-nature coupled systems
Synergizing climate resilience with multilateral environmental agreements and beyond

Session proposals will be invited from leading experts and research teams. Further details will be provided in the second announcement.

A dedicated conference website will be launched soon, providing detailed information on submission guidelines, registration, accommodation, and logistics.

Though we are actively looking for funding to financially support the conference, a conference fee will likely be charged.

We plan to organize the conference only in person. Online participation is not considered.
