Avoiding disadvantages for female scientists, female teachers and female students
According to the Bavarian Higher Education Act, the role of the Women's Representative is to prevent disadvantages for female academics, female teaching staff and female students. In addition, the Women's Representatives support the university with regard to promoting equality and eliminating existing inequalities. The women's representatives of the faculties are entitled to vote in various committees, including appointment committees, the department councils or the faculty board, where they represent the interests of female academics and students. In addition to committee work, the Faculty Women's Representatives are also responsible for providing advice.
In April 2021, the Faculty of Geosciences' plan for the advancement of women (PDF, 6,795 KB) was unanimously adopted by the Faculty Council.

Equality starts with language. Many university texts are still written in the generic masculine. As a result, women remain unmentioned and therefore invisible. It is not enough to "include" female academics in texts. The aim must be to mention and address women and men equally and to make women visible in language.
Gender-equitable language is neither cumbersome nor unnecessarily long if the right linguistic strategies are used. Good examples as well as further information can be found on the website of the LMU women's representative.
