First meeting for the kick-off event of the certificate program “EL MUNDO - Education for Sustainable Development in the Teaching Profession”
On Thursday, October 17, 2019, the first joint meeting of the el mundo certificate program took place in the main building of the LMU, in the library of the Munich Competence Center for Ethics (MKE, room M 210).
From 6.30 p.m. to around 9 p.m., students and external participants were cordially invited to listen to presentations on the project and to exchange ideas at the buffet afterwards.
Prof. Dr. Oliver Jahraus, Vice President for Academic Affairs, opened the event and spoke very positively about the certificate program, which is now expanding LMU's sustainability portfolio. The Director of the Munich Center for Teacher Education (MZL), Prof. Dr. Christiane Lütge, also welcomed the students and praised their willingness to take part in the el mundo project. Prof. Dr. Ralf Ludwig, the official head of the project, then spoke and talked about the collaboration with the various cooperation partners and some of the bureaucratic necessities that had to be overcome in order to finally launch the project. Finally, it was the turn of Dr. Christian Hoiß, the coordinator of el mundo, to briefly present the aims and basic concept of the certificate program to a wider audience.
After these program points, those present were able to enjoy the organic buffet and take the opportunity to get to know each other and network.
All in all, it was a successful evening, which will hopefully be indicative of the future course of el mundo.
