Our expert on water resources of the Danube River Basin, Elisabeth Probst, recently attended the 13th Danube Academies Conference in Belgrade. Under the theme “Green Blue Danube”, the conference brought together national academies from the Danube region to focus on the European Green Deal. Experts from countries along the Danube discussed key sustainability challenges such as food safety, pollution, and achieving climate neutrality.

Elisabeth worked together with her PhD supervisor Wolfram Mauser and colleagues Dan Balteanu and Diana Dogaru on a talk on „Cross-scale challenges and opportunities of adaptation to climate change in the upper and lower parts of the Danube Basin“. They highlighted that climate adaptation must be coordinated across countries in the entire Danube region to reconcile the interests of upstream and downstream riparians as well as the requirements for an intact environment.
