On 29 and 30 April, the Working Group on Natural Hazards and Natural Risks of the German Geographical Society (DGfG) met in Munich for its annual conference. Co-chaired by Prof. Matthias Garschagen, Prof. Alexander Fekete and PD Sven Fuchs, the group is one of the formal Working Groups within the German Associations of Geographers.
This year's event was held under the theme: "The unexpected problem to deal with the expected? Epistemological and practical challenges to tackle the risks of today and tomorrow". It convened eleven interesting talks, provided ample of space for discussions and was rounded up by an exciting panel discussion with Prof. Michael Krautblatter (TUM), Prof. Margreth Keiler (Innsbruck), Prof. Ralf Ludwig (LMU) and PD Sven Fuchs (BOKU) on risk management in Alpine regions under climate change.
