19.09.2023 - 23.09.2023: STORIES members presented new research results and organized sessions and a book launch at the DKG’23

Dr. Emlyn Yang, Wenhan Feng and Christine Heinzel attended the 62. German Geography Congress (Deutscher Kongress für Geographie, DKG), which took place from September 19 to 23 at Frankfurt University in Frankfurt a.M., Germany.

Dr. Emlyn Yang co-chaired two sessions at the congress on the status and dynamics of climate resilience studies and on understanding and enhancing social resilience to flood impacts. He also presented research on the spatial-temporal dynamics of social resilience and was involved in the book launch of “China: Geographien einer Weltmacht”, a new book on understanding the interconnectedness of China’s geography, politics, societies and culture. In addition to that, Dr. Yang organized together with Christine Heinzel a joint networking dinner with leading researchers in the field of resilience science.

Christine Heinzel presented her PhD idea on modelling past transformational changes in flood management strategies in the Tea-Horse Road area. Wenhan Feng presented new exciting results of his literature review on flood resilience.

Overall, it was a very successful conferences for the STORIES team, with a lot of new input and networking opportunities!
