16.04.2024: STORIES members presented in the AAG Congress

The Congress of American Association of Geographers (AAG) 2024 started on April 16, 2024 at the Hawai’i Convention Center, Honolulu, Hawai’i. Dr. Emlyn Yang and Wenhan Feng attended the conference and presented research results.

Emlyn chaired the session “Mainstreaming resilience for responses to climate change” on April 16, 2024. The session has 4 parts and 19 oral talks in a line. Emlyn presented updates on the progress of the STORIES project. Speakers from various parts of the world engaged in discussions covering a wide range of topics related to climate resilience, including case studies, methodologies, potential solutions, and more. The session attracted more than fifty in-person participants and more than thirty online participants. The entire discussion finished after 6 hours, and some speakers gathered informally again in the evening to continue conversations.

Wenhan chaired the session “Advances in approaches and methods of flood resilience studies” on April 19, 2024. This session is part of the “AAG 2024 Symposium on Geospatial Data Science for Sustainability”. The session has 2 parts and 11 oral talks. Wenhan gave a presentation on simulation of urban drainage infrastructure. Speakers presented the application of different methods, both quantitative and qualitative, in flood resilience research. Scholars from different backgrounds have meaningful discussions around the concept of “flood resilience”.
