In June 2024, Bethany Liss attended the 3rd International Conference on Natural Hazards and Risks in a Changing World in Amsterdam. She presented findings from the ongoing mainstreaming research of LIRLAP’s Work Package 4 in the session on “Science for policy and practice: Synergizing Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation”. The presentation focused on the Philippine case study of Metro Manila and how resilient upgrading and resettlement as climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction strategies are being mainstreamed across governance scales and policy domains.

Various questions from the audience and vivid discussions with listeners after the session prove the relevance of the topic and were helpful for exchange of knowledge, identification of future research needs and networking.
