In April 2024, Bethany Liss and Lena Grobusch from LMU showcased LIRLAP findings at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly in Vienna. Being involved in LIRLAP’s mainstreaming work package, they presented recent work in a session on “Resilience building, risk reduction to recovery: Assessments, frameworks, tools and experiences”. Bethany Liss’s poster presentation was titled “Mainstreaming climate change adaptation into local land use planning in Metro Manila: lessons learned and potential for knowledge transfer”. Building on one of several identified research gaps, Lena Grobusch gave a complementary poster presentation titled “Who is responsible for addressing climate risks in coastal cities? Insights from a policy document analysis of Metro Manila”.
The topics garnered significant interest, leading to valuable networking and exchange opportunities. This engagement highlights the growing importance of effective urban upgrading and resettlement strategies in global urban planning discussions.
