Wartaweil Research Station

The teaching and research station Wartaweil of the Department of Geography can be used for seminars, workshops, practical courses, research work etc. after prior registration.

Important notes

Workstations: 6 tables and 17 chairs)
Sleeping places: 2 bunk beds (4 sleeping places)
Sanitary area: 1 toilet, 1 shower
Small kitchen: sink, stove with two electric hotplates, refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine)
IT base: projector, digital flipchart, seminar notebook, W-LAN
Heating: Night storage heaters and hot water boiler
Outdoor area: 3 beer table sets, fire bowl, barbecue

The house has three rowing boats (2 persons each) and a motorboat (max. 6 persons, 9.9 HP).
The boats may only be used for research or teaching purposes.
If you wish to use the boats, please discuss this in advance with the person responsible for the research station.

There is only limited parking available at the property.
Garbage, food and any utensils you have brought with you must be taken back with you on departure.
Open fires are prohibited on the premises.
Please also note the checklist that you will receive when you hand over the keys.

Getting there

By public transport:

A) take the S8 from Munich main station to Herrsching (49 minutes), then approx. 2.5 km on foot, e.g. along the riverside path.

B) take the S6 to Starnberg-Nord, then change to bus 951 in the direction of Herrsching (travel time approx. 35 min, 18 stops) to the Herrsching, Panoramastraße stop. From there 17 min on foot.

By car:

You can reach Wartaweil from Munich e.g. via the A96 (exit Wörthsee) and via the
St2349 and St2068 (approx. 40 minutes from the center).

After passing through Herrsching heading south, you will reach a traffic circle at the end of the town, which you follow in the direction of Weilheim. You will reach the entrance to the station after 950 m on the right-hand side (gray gate, house number Wartaweil 13).

House rules - a few basics

Careful handling of the entire facility and equipment is a matter of course!
Any damage caused must be reported immediately and, if necessary, replaced without delay.
The house is to be cleaned thoroughly after use and will be left in top condition (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping (including tables, shelves in the bathroom and kitchen, and before
especially toilet and shower)!
The biotope in front of the house, which is suspended with rope, may not be driven on (and should not be used at all).
Please inform the person responsible for the house if any outdoor work is required (lawn, hedges, trees, etc.).
Everything you bring with you will be taken away:
- Waste (if necessary, separate in the marked waste garbage cans)
- Food (only originally sealed food with a long best-before date can be left behind; it is therefore automatically available to other users)
We have sensitive neighbors! Therefore no parties, no unnecessary noise at any time (and night's rest from 10 pm!)
There is only limited parking available at the property (please park in the parking bay opposite or in the surrounding parking lots).
Open fires are prohibited on the entire site. A fire extinguisher must be provided when using the fire pit (barbecues are only permitted here!). Firewood is provided; please let us know in good time if it is running low.
When leaving the station, the checklist must be completed in full, signed and handed in when the keys are returned.
