Plastics form the basis for products in all areas of life. This applies in particular to textiles from the clothing sector and technical textiles. More than 70% of all fibers used to manufacture textile products are based on plastics, which are produced almost entirely from crude oil. The BIOTEXFUTURE innovation space brings together a heterogeneous consortium of universities, technical research institutions and companies to pursue the vision of a 100% bio-based textile value chain. In this context, the Chair of Economic Geography is investigating the social dimension and temporal development of project-based and cooperative innovation processes. On the one hand, innovation biographies are created to record the historical development of existing key technologies, whereby existing methodological approaches are extended by the use of patent data. In addition, the proven SONA method (Situational Organizational Network Analysis) will be used to create a network panel of the knowledge and cooperation structure in the project. The aim is to jointly gain insights into the emergence of the field of biotextile production.
