Research and Teaching Unit Physical Geography and Earth System Interactions

I am an oceanographer with a passion for the high latitudes. In my PhD research, I am using non-hydrostatic simulations to improve our understanding of convection in the Southern Ocean, with the ultimate aim of improving how Southern Ocean convection is represented in global Earth System Models (ESMs).
I am doing my PhD in conjunction with the Alfred-Wegener-Institut (AWI) as part of the AWI-LMU joint research group for Southern Ocean-Climate Interactions (SO-CLIM). I am specifically working on the ERC project VERTical EXchange in the Southern Ocean (VERTEXSO).
