Postdoc Positions in Ecosystem-Climate Interactions and CDR Modeling

1 Jun 2025

Applications now open!

We are currently seeking two postdoctoral researchers to join the team at LMU Munich, working on cutting-edge topics in carbon dioxide removal (CDR), climate change mitigation, and ecosystem-climate interactions. Both positions are located at the Chair of Physical Geography and Land Use Systems (headed by Prof. Julia Pongratz).

Postdoc Position: Ecosystem-Climate Interactions (m/f/x)

This position focuses on investigating the interactions between ecosystems and the climate – particularly how land use and biodiversity influence carbon storage under changing climate conditions. This position supports a range of climate-related research efforts, including contributions to the CDRterra project and the Global Carbon Project.

Postdoc Position: Modeling and Assessment of Terrestrial Carbon Dioxide Removal (m/f/x)

This position centers on developing and applying models to explore the effectiveness and limitations of various terrestrial CDR strategies – such as bioenergy with carbon capture, afforestation, or enhanced weathering – and how they can be incorporated into climate mitigation scenarios.

Join us in advancing climate science and CDR research.
