We were at EGU in Vienna! Five days of interesting talks, poster discussions, and conversations with researchers from all over the world
Last week, several members of the Chair for Physical Geography and Land Use Systems attended the EGU General Assembly 2026 in Vienna – five days of interesting talks, poster discussions, and conversations with researchers from all over the world.
In total, our group contributed five talks and two posters across sessions in biogeosciences and climate research.
Clemens Schwingshackl presented two talks: in session CL3.2.1 on Impacts of land-use-environment interactions on sources and sinks of CO₂, and in session BG3.7 on Differences and uncertainties in land-use CO₂ flux estimates, and how to overcome them. In the same session,
Katharina Raberg presented her work on Beyond carbon: Does afforestation/reforestation mitigate or trigger future climate extremes?.
In session BG1.3,
Raphael Ganzenmüller presented High-resolution estimates of vegetation and soil carbon densities for regional and global carbon budgets.
Tobias Nützel contributed a poster to the same session on „Improving the representation of the fate of harvested wood in global and regional carbon budgets.
Lucas Ferreira Correa gave a talk in session ITS4.1/NP8.9 on Amazon rainforest hydroclimatic stress under 2 °C global warming in response to progressive idealized deforestation simulated with MPI-ESM-HR.
Finally,
Shraddha Gupta presented her poster on Regional perspective of terrestrial carbon dioxide removal on land-atmosphere coupling and heat extremes in session CL4.4.
Many thanks to everyone who stopped by our talks and posters and joined the discussion! Looking forward to EGU 2027!
