The latest report shows that global CO2 emissions are continuing to rise, with no trend reversal in sight.
The latest report from the international Global Carbon Project, which calculates global greenhouse gas emissions and their causes every year, shows that global CO2 emissions are continuing to rise, with no trend reversal in sight.
Prof. Dr. Julia Pongratz, Dr. Clemens Schwingshackl and Tobias Nützel from the Teaching and Research Unit for Physical Geography and Earth System Interactions were involved in the preparation of the Global Carbon Budget 2024. They led the estimates of land use emissions and contributed to the current figures for the land sink with modeling results. As part of the STEPSEC research project, they are investigating the role that terrestrial CO2 capture methods can play in mitigating climate change.
