Julia Pongratz talks to BR-TV about the impacts of heatwaves

Westeurope has experienced the hottest June and July since the beginning of recorded measurements, according to the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service. In Nuremberg, trams were brought to a standstill for six days at the end of June because the bitumen around the tracks was melting. Many rivers across Europe are also experiencing record-low water levels, and there is hardly a region in Western Europe that has not been affected by wildfires. Prof. Dr. Julia Pongratz spoke on BR24 TV on August 10 about the challenges posed by heatwaves and climate change, and how we can better prepare for the future in order to protect people, the economy, and nature.
