Prof. Marianela Fader recently participated in 𝗔𝗴𝗠𝗜𝗣𝟭𝟬, the 10th Global Workshop of the AgMIP – Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project, held at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in El Batán, Mexico.

This international gathering brought together leading experts in agricultural and food systems modeling to advance critical work in areas such as Crop and Livestock Modeling, Climate Resilience for Food and Nutrition Security, and Policy Linkages for Food Systems.

Working groups engaged with real-world modeling challenges, sought methodological synergies, and focused on identifying robust, tranferable insights that can inform policy. A central theme throughout the workshop was the importance of closer collaboration between the working groups and across thematic areas for producing high-impact and policy-relevant outputs.

To support this, AgMIP10 introduced the "radical collaboration sessions". These sessions brought together participants from different working groups to share perspectives, align goals, and co-develop ideas—setting the stage for stronger cross-cutting collaboration going forward.

What is AgMIP?

The Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP) is a global research community, gathering agricultural modelers and food system experts. Its mission: to improve agricultural assessments through rigorous model intercomparison, harmonization of input data, and open collaboration. By comparing and integrating different models, AgMIP aims to produce more reliable, transparent, and policy-relevant insights for tackling global food security and climate resilience challenges.
